Feeling a little slow this year.

Not getting much done in the garden. Not many of the pots I started and left outside germinated, so next year I'll definitely build a rack and start them inside with lights. I got a couple of pepper plants and a cherry tomato at Farmer's Market a couple of weeks ago. They are doing well in the ground. Yesterday I started 5 pots sunflower. 10 pots cucumbers. 2 Sweet Basil. 3 Corriander. 2 bigger pots of cubanella peppers I harvested the seeds from last year. I started a medium size window box with a variety of mesclun and other fun stuff. it'll be fun to see how that does.
The Earth day celebration at the arboretum was fun. Maggie and I came home with quite a few saplings. 6 fir, 2 oak, 5 redbud, and 1 dogwood. They are all in pots now. Since the dirt was just sitting in those pots, Maggie and I added flower seeds, more mesclun, some Basil/corriander/and other surprises.
Speaking of redbuds and surprises, I was looking at the redbud out back, and noticed all the buds were gone, but what looked like little spring peas were hanging from the limbs... I did some research, and WHO KNEW??? redbuds are in the legume family. I'll be grilling up some of those little peas soon hopefully, but they taste a little bitter right now.
I'm starting to clean out a new bed in the front yard. I'll put the bigger developed herbs and the cucumbers will have room to spread. Also my dear wife bought me some asparagus crowns that'll go in a Very sunny place in the front of the house.
That's it for today. Maybe I'll do some pictures next time.

another year.

Ok, it's another year so I'll try again. Maggie brought home a Cabbage plant from JMG class last week and we planted that, then put some seeds from a Golden Bell Pepper in to the little mini pots. Yesterday I made labels for all the seeds I plan on putting in littel pots. then put the pots in trays. I'll fill'em with dirt and put the seeds in soon. lots of fun stuff so I hope to have good updates and good eats this year.
